Meg Liebsch’s Visit

Meganne Liebsch, managing editor of the LaSalle Collegian, is a senior Communication major who managed to find time out of her busy schedule to discuss her work experience as well as her career goals.

Out of more than 750 applicants, Liebsch has been selected for the highly competitive Dow Jones News Fund Internship, a program which sends undergraduate and graduate students to work as journalists and editors in paid internships at 55 of the nation’s leading news organizations. Liebsch is the second LaSalle student to participate in the Dow Jones program.

She began her role as an Interactive News Editor for Central Connecticut Communications in June 2017. Liebsch said she loved the job but prefers writing over editing. One of the main subject areas she writes about is public health issues.

Aside from writing, Liebsch also enjoys the layout and design aspects of journalism.

She applied to many internships including the Boston Globe, Seattle Times, and Inquirer. Her plan is to attend graduate school to further her studies.

Her advice to potential future journalists: “Practice writing. Practice clips. Practice interviews. And always ask questions. Mock interviews are really helpful as well.”
